June 22, 1929 - December 11, 2017 Fort Myers, FL | Age 88 Loving Brother, Uncle and Friend.

Alvin Dean Paisley, age 88, formerly of West Grove, PA., died on December 11, 2017 at Hope Hospice of Fort Myers, in Fort Myers, Florida.

Dean was born in West Grove, PA June 22, 1929. He was the son of the Walter F. and China Mae Paisley. He is survived by three sisters: Christine E. Troilo, West Grove, PA, Alma Logene Distefano (his twin), Newark, DE and Shirley Byrd, West Grove, PA.

Dean attended Oxford Area schools in his early years where he and his sister Logene became the first set of twins in Oxford Area School District history. The family moved to the West Grove area in 1939 where he attended and graduated from Avon-Grove Area High School in West Grove, PA. He went on to West Chester State College, in West Chester, PA graduating in 1952. Dean finished his studies at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA earning a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, graduating in 1954. He is a veteran, spending 2 years on active duty in the U.S. Army 1954-1956.

Dean moved to York, PA. He worked as a Physical Therapist at local hospitals in the York area before establishing a private practice from which he retired in 1995.

He enjoyed a wide variety of interests including travel, snow skiing, sports with baseball being his favorite, swimming and boating as well as the beach. Dean visited Europe numerous times and experienced skiing in the Swiss Alps, as well as two African Safari trips. He loved spending time with family around the holidays.

Dean was active in snow skiing all of his adult life and well into his 70’s. While living in York, PA he owned and operated the Skool Haus Ski Shoppes in York and Harrisburg, PA

He moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 1998 to enjoy the year round weather and activities.

He will be interred at New London Presbyterian Cemetery in New London, PA. Services are private.

  1. I think of my Uncle Dean often. He was a traveler and a business person. He saw all the nieces and nephews at Christmas time. He had lots of good stories about his travels that we enjoyed listening to. He had a twin who passed recently, my mother Alma Jean DiStefano. He will be thought of and loved always.
