RAYMOND D. McGOVERN, Sr., age 82, of West Grove, PA, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the VA Medical Center Hospice, Coatesville, PA

Born in Kennett Square, PA, he was the son of the late Howard McGovern and the late Helen Moran McGovern.

Raymond was a security officer at Longwood Gardens, retiring in 2015, after 40 years of service.

He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, The Italian American Club, VFW Post No. 5467, and the Knights of Columbus, all in Kennett Square.

Raymond enjoyed traveling, watching the Phillies and Eagles play and being with his family and friends.

He is survived by one daughter, Denise Charbonnier and her husband Paul, Jr. of Pequea, PA; one son, R, Mark McGovern, Jr of Willow Street, PA; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

You are invited to visit with his family and friends from 9:00 to 10:30 on Thursday morning, May 17, 2018, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home, 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, PA. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 at St Patrick Catholic Church, 212 Meredith Street, Kennett Square, PA. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Route 82, Kennett Square, PA.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the Coatesville VA Medical Center Hospice, 1400 Blackhorse Hill Road, Coatesville, PA 19320

  2. Ray was a great neighbor when we lived on Meredith st. in Kennett. Enjoyed working with him at Longwood. He always seemed to brighten the day and making work more enjoyable. He was one of a kind and will be one of God’s special angels. Our deepest sympathy to all of his family and closest friends.
