Wilma G. White

December 30, 1935 - January 8, 2018 West Grove, PA | Age 82 Loving Mother, Grandmother and Friend

Wilma G. White, age 82, of West Grove, PA, formerly of Wilmington, DE and Landenberg, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2018, at her home. She was the wife of the late W. Douglas White, with whom she shared 40 years of marriage.

She was born on the island of Eday in the Orkney Isles in Scotland, to the late William Rendall and the late Annie Jean Seatter Rendall.

After meeting her husband in Orkney while he was stationed in the Royal Air Force, they moved to Lowestoft, England, later immigrating to the United States in 1962, proudly becoming American citizens in 1967. Wilma worked as bookkeeper and receptionist in her husband’s business, First State Appraisal Service, and then as executive secretary at Ohio Casualty Insurance Company. As a couple, Wilma and Doug spent many hours in bowling leagues, camping, and at their vacation home on the Delaware Bay near Cape May Court House, NJ. Her life revolved around her family, however, never missing the numerous activities of her children and grandchildren. She and Doug were founding members of the Avon Grove HS Music Boosters and were lifetime supporters of the band program there. Wilma attended The Christian Life Center and participated in the Senior Saints group.

Wilma is survived by her son, Douglas White (Ruth) of Wilmington, DE; her daughter Karen Temme (Bill), of West Grove, PA; and four grandchildren, Jamie (Maria), Alec, Emily and Shaylyn. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Annie Rendall Scott and brother, Balfour Rendall.
