Sheila Connolly Gentile

May 6, 1947 - January 5, 2018 Kennett Square, PA | Age 70 Loving Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend

Sheila Connolly Gentile, age 70, of Kennett Square, PA died on Friday, January 5th, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Richard F. Gentile, who recently died Thursday January 11, 2018 and with whom she shared 47 years of marriage.

Born in Bennington, VT she was the daughter of the late John F. Connolly and the late Elizabeth McPherson Connolly.

Sheila attended Mount Ida Junior College in Newton, Massachusetts where she graduated with an Associate Degree in Fashion Merchandise.  She later went on to work as a bank teller in Kennett Square, PA.

Sheila was a well-liked and well-respected fixture of the community. Many a time, patrons of Sheila’s bank would comment that they continued to bank there because of her personality and welcoming spirit. She also had a creative side; In addition to enjoying crafts and ceramics, she loved to share her homemade chocolates, cakes and candies with her family. Perhaps most of all, Sheila adored her grandchildren and could never spoil them enough. Sheila’s feisty but incredibly loving spirit will truly be missed by all.

Sheila is survived by two sons, Michael Gentile and his wife, Susan and Brian Gentile and his wife, Sue; a daughter, Ellen Riegel and her husband, Mike; two brothers, John F. Connolly, Jr. and Peter Connolly; one sister, Margaret May; seven grandchildren, Connor, Cameron, Kayla, Braden, Morgan, Michael and Max, and one great-granddaughter, Ava.

You are invited to visit with Sheila and Richard’s family and friends from 6-8PM Monday January 15, 2018 and from 10-11AM Tuesday January 16th at Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home Inc. (610-444-4116) 250 W. 1. Over my several years at the bank, Sheila was a welcome joy to work with every time I would help cover her branch.
To her loved ones- you know well how fondly Sheila was revered, and I also truly respected and appreciated her welcome spirit, absolute loyalty, kind open ear, work ethic and attitude!
Sheila- you are irreplaceable and earth (nor bank after you retired) will not be the same. Enjoy your peace with Richard and watching over all of us… Much Love, Melissa DNB co-worker

  3. To the Gentile Family, I am so sorry for the loss off your parents. Your mom was such a sweet person. Every time she needed to come to Mary D. Lang to pick one of you up, we always had such great conversations, and we would always meet in the grocery store. Please accept my sincere sympathy. Elaine Fiore

  8. Mike, Ellen and Brian my thoughts and prayers are with you and the kids. Your Mom and Dad were two of the most wonderful people I have ever known and the best neighbors in the world. I have had the great honor of living next door to them for over twenty years and will miss them both every day. I know how proud they were of all of you and how deeply they loved you and your children. Perhaps it’s a testament to their love for one another that they have left together but it sure leaves a huge hole for us left behind. I know that they both deeply appreciated all of the love and care you each provided for them as they bravely faced their health challenges this past year. I hope you can find some comfort there. I am here for you in any way you need.
Your friend and next door neighbor,
