  1. My childhood memories are filled with visits from Uncle Kirby and Aunt Bernice.
They would return to their roots(North Carolina) almost every summer , and spend a few days with my parents, Lacy and Edna Little.
Carolyn and I were close in age and Steve and Johnny just little boys, and full of life.
It was always exciting, those visits.
We were pretty isolated in these mountains and they brought news of events that were so interesting to me.
Our families had a special closeness that is still in my heart.
Then, when they moved here , for a few years, I was able to spend more time with theme during their work on the family history.
Often , I get out that history family book, and it aids me in figuring out all the interweaving of Ashe Co. Families.
It’s a little sad to know Bernice is the last of that generation of theJohn Marshell Little family.
But we must carry on,and look forward to that Day when we’ll all be homed together.
Carol. Steve and Johnny: cherish the memories(. Also all the grands and great grands, who I dont know.)
    We have a great heritage.

  4. Mommom, my beautiful angel. Life gives us many blessings and you are one of those. I am honored to have you as an amazing supportive great grandmother. No one can take away the person that you were. You were such a strong woman and you proved that time and time again. I know you are looking down on us and protecting us just like you would be doing if you were still here. You are now not only my mommom but my guardian angel. I love you so much mommom. I will cherish all of the happy memories. Rest in paradise and say hello to everyone that I love up there and take care of them. I will see you again someday.

  6. Dear Family, I do not know if any of you will remember me, but I was also one of the founding members of the Kennett Square Missionary Baptist Church. I went to church with Mrs. Bernice and Mr. Kirby until I married and moved to Louisiana. I am so sorry for your loss. My parents and your parents were good friends for a long number of years. Howard and Virginia Hodges had moved back to North Carolina several years ago but until my Mom passed away, she had kept in touch with Mrs. Bernice. Again, I am so sorry to hear such sad news. May you be comforted by knowing that Mrs. Bernice is with her Lord and Savior and rejoicing with family and friends.

You got to watch several of you great grandchildren grow up, and you got to watch me marry the love of my life. You always told me Larry was a good man and, he sure is a good man, The last time we saw you for your birthday we enjoyed a lot of laughes and told stories about the old days! I will treasure every moment I had you in my life! I know you are at peace now looking down on us, so fly high sweet angel!

  10. Aunt Bernice and Uncle Kirby were two wonderful individuals that I was lucky enough to call family. Whenever Mawmaw or Daddy needed them, they were there. They were great role models of how Christians should be and how to treat others. I hope there is comfort for those closest to her to know that she is now safely home with Uncle Kirby and our Lord. Rest In Peace, Aunt Bernice!

  11. I was blessed to be a part of this wonderful family! I will miss this beautiful lady. I have hand written recipes and still use them. Me, not being a farm girl, she liked to tell the story of me coming in from the garden saying I picked potatoes! Kirby and Bernice never forgot that. Love and miss you and your family.

  12. Dear Mom, MomMom, and Great MomMom, You have been such an important part of our lives, and we were blessed to have you with us for so long! Your last month was a struggle for you, and you are now where you wanted most to be- in the comfort of your beloved Savior and Lord, Jesus. You are with our other angels in Heaven- at peace, and providing fond memories as we mourn your passing.
We will cherish those happier times!
With our love, Johnnie, Carol and family
