Matthew Ryan Butler

April 26, 1989 - September 6, 2017 Atglen, PA | Age 28 Loving Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend

Matthew Ryan Butler, age 28 of Atglen, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Matthew was born in Quarryville, Pennsylvania; he was the son of Timothy Butler and Holly Vargas. A graduate of Octorara High School, Matthew went on to work as a landscaper for his father’s business, “Fresh Start Landscaping”. Matt was always very tidy and affectionately known as a “neat freak” by family and friends. He also loved Halloween – it was his favorite holiday! Matthew was the kind of person to offer those in need the shirt off of his back – he would do anything for anyone and will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

Matthew was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his maternal grandfather, Roy F. Hughes; his stepmother, Helena Butler, who was a constant source of love and encouragement to Matthew; his stepfather, Alex Vargas; his brothers and sisters, Cassandra Hampton, Shelby Fuller, Michael Fuller, Sebastian Vargas, Brianna Vargas, Anthony Vargas, Anthony Salerno, Timothy Butler Jr., Travis Butler, and Daniel Payne; his nieces, Addalyn Hampton and Jaylynn Salerno as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Matthew’s memory also lives on with his best friend, Aleshia Davis – she was his greatest supporter through thick and thin.

You are invited to visit with Matthew’s family and friends on Friday September 15th from 9 – 11AM at the Kuzo and Grieco Funeral Home (610-444-4116), 250 West State Street, Kennett Square, PA, 19348.  A memorial service celebrating his life will follow at 11AM.  Interment will be held privately.  Contributions in his memory may be made to Kacie’s Cause, 232 Longwood Road, Kennett Square, PA 19348. 1. Holly, I remember Matthew in his younger years. He was such a good sweet baby. I know nothing I can say will make you feel better or take away your pain. You have been through so much, losing your sister, mother, granddaughter baby, and now your son. You are the kindest, caring, loving person I know and the most important thing I do know is that through all of these trying times you have always stayed strong, stronger than most people would be able to. Please be brave. Cherish your memories. Time will heal you. Only God has the answer as to why Matt was taken from you so soon. Try and trust in Him and believe that He will carry you through and that one day you will understand. Take comfort in your beautiful family and your wonderful husband. They will love you indefinitely. Be who you are. Don’t stop. You are very loved for your beautiful spirit. God will take care of Matt. Love, Suzanne

  10. Mathew…my buddy…RIP . I will remember the good times we had at Super*Fresh and how you always lent a hand. Even before you were old enough to work!! I think about the talks we had, and you were so optimistic about your future. Your struggle is over and you are with other family now. You will be missed.
