The Cleveland & Grieco Funeral Home is the proud successor to a direct and continuous line of funeral service. Taylor Thompson, a master cabinetmaker and undertaker, practiced in Avondale and New Garden Township starting in 1856. The current facility, built in 1892, has been in use as a funeral home since 1922. Prior to 1922 it had been the residence and drug store of Brinton H. Chambers. The building was also once home to the Avondale Library as well as the Avondale Herald, the town newspaper. Next year, in 2006, we will celebrate 150 years of continuous funeral service and dedication to the families of Avondale and surrounding communities.
